Run of the Dead Elimination Run
October 29, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 4:30 pm $60 - $110
What’s that saying about doing the same thing over and over again? Join us for the 3rd year of this insane event held on October 29th, 2017 at Old School Forest Preserve. These trails offer some prime leaf peeping! Runners can choose one of the following distances:
8 x 4.25-mile loops on the top of every hour starting at 8am for 34 miles total,
4 x 4.25-mile loops on the top of every hour starting at noon for 17 miles total,
2 x 4.25-mile loops on the top of every hour starting at 2pm for 8.5 miles total
This elimination-style event means that if it takes you 40 minutes to run a loop, you will have 20 minutes to relax and grab a sweet or savory crepe from our crepe stand, or if you dare, compete in the King & Queen of the Hill Challenge and run some hill repeats before everyone begins the next loop. If, however, you don’t finish any loop within the hour, you are disqualified. There is an aid station halfway through the loop stocked with food & drink and the best damn volunteers around. The start / finish area will have food and music.
If you find yourself thinking, “I have an entire hour to complete one 4.25-mile loop? Pfft, that’s easy.” Then we’ve got the King and Queen of the Hill Challenge. Have a few minutes to burn at the end of your loop? See how many hill repeats up the sled hill you can complete over the course of the event. Brag about it later at Tighthead Brewery. A king and queen will be determined based on the runners with the highest number of hill repetitions. Oh, and there’s beer and margaritas at the top of the hill.
What the Hill?!
Speaking of the hill challenge, all hill runners will have a chance to receive a patch for running up that stupid hill a couple of times – we haven’t decided how many yet. You know what looks cool on a jean jacket? That’s right, A PATCH! In addition, the top male and female in each event will get something magnificent. Set the new 4-loop & 8-loop male or female hill repeat record and we’ll give you your entry fee back. You can’t, but we’ll have fun watching you try!
All participants of the 8 & 4-loop events registered before October 16th will receive a jean jacket or zip hoodie, respectively. All participants of the 2-loop event registered before October 16th will receive… Something awesome. Details coming soon! We don’t do medals around here but this year, we’ll have a metal taco. Wait, we’ve said too much. Until then, focus on crossing that finish line before 4pm to get the coveted finisher drinking vessel. It’s a badass mug, trust us!
